2013 DISC Awards Presented in Dallas, Texas by Fig Leaf Software
Dallas Texas - Fig Leaf Software sponsored and presented the 2nd Annual DISC awards in Dallas Texas on the top floor of the Sheraton Dallas Downtown. The event featured local BBQ, Armadillo races, and was attended by technology professionals from Diocese throughout North America.
During dinner and before the armadillo races, Roni Argetsinger, DISC Board of Directors Vice President and Bret Peters, Vice President of Fig Leaf Software, a full service digital agency, presented the DISC 2013 awards in three categories. The categories were:
The first award was presented to the Archdiocese for the Military Services as the winner of the Diocesan AchievementAward 2013, which recognizes a diocese that has made significant strides with and has become a model for the use of technology to serve parishes, schools and parishioners within their diocese.
The Technology Evangelization Award which recognizes Priests or Bishops using technology to serve the people of God in unique or outstanding ways was awarded to Bishop Walter A. Hurley of the Diocese of Grand Rapids. Nominees in this category included: Reverend Leo Patalinghug of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Auxiliary Bishop Donald J. Hying of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, Bishop Kevin J. Farrell from the Diocese of Dallas, Tony Vasinda from Perpetual Motion Ministries and Bishop Walter A. Hurley.
The Conference Theme Award is dedicated to Strengthening Catholic Ministries through Technology: Inform – Collaborate – Innovate – Celebrate. The Conference Theme Award was awarded to Jayne Mondoy from the Diocese of Honolulu, Hawaii. Nominees in this category included: Archbishop William E. Lori from the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Father Daniel L. Blout from the Diocese of Greensburg, Archbishop Jerome E. Listecki of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, Tony Vasinda from Perpetual Motion Ministries, and finally, the Catholic Diocese of Dallas.
Other highlights of the events were keynote speaker, Father Leo Patalinghug an internationally known conference speaker and popular TV and radio personality, Fr. Leo is also the creator and host of “Grace before Meals” and an after hours dinner reception at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science.
