Thanks to Ben Forta & Adam Lehman, we had one of the best turnouts for our DC user group in quite some time.
The turnout was, quite honestly, not as large as we had hoped for (60) given our efforts at promotion (which included an aggressive phone call campaign) DC, which (most likely) is the #1 market for ColdFusion has been eclipsed by Atlanta...and even Minneapolis. Clearly something is wrong with this picture. Certainly the nasty storm that immediately preceded the event didn't help the turnout. While I do think that the CF market in DC has shrunk a bit (due to some anecdotal evidence of our training numbers and talking with students), after some introspection I am forced to conclude that Fig Leaf as an organization has "dropped the ball" somewhat with respect to community leadership. As a result, we are taking the following actions:
1) Launching this blog
2) Refocusing our user group (www.useadobe.com) back to CF and CF-related topics
3) The creation of a new listserv for technical support of CF-related questions for our group members
4) The creation of a new series of captivate-based ColdFusion tutorials
5) Working closer with the Adobe reps to host CF-related sales/information seminars (both on-line and in-person)
These initiatives will be rolling out throughout the summer, so stay tuned!
In the meantime, please feel free to post suggestions for upcoming meetings.
